Each year, Queensland Police Legacy organises and fully funds a week-long holiday at a Queensland venue for eligible families. The holiday covers accommodation, meals and a spending allowance for every attending family, with no cost to families whatsoever.
Typically attended by 90 to 120 people, the holiday brings surviving parents and their children together in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Queensland Police Legacy organises a range of activities each day, though families are free to participate as much or as little as they choose. The focus has always been on giving time-poor and financially stretched parents the chance to simply be present with their children.
What makes the holiday truly special is the community it creates. Every family attending has taken a different road, but they’ve all arrived at the same destination. There’s no judgement here, only people who understand, because they’ve lived it too.
