Our Mission

Our mission is to provide meaningful financial support, educational assistance, and emotional encouragement to the children of Queensland Police families. We work to ensure that every young person affected by loss or hardship has access to the resources, stability, and opportunities they need to continue growing with confidence. Through scholarships, programs, and community-driven care, we help create pathways that strengthen their future.

Our Vision

Our vision is a future where every child of a Queensland Police family feels empowered to reach their full potential, regardless of the challenges they face. We strive to build a supportive foundation that nurtures resilience, inspires hope, and removes barriers to education and opportunity. By standing beside these families, we aim to cultivate generations of strong, capable individuals who can thrive personally, academically, and within their communities.

Our Story

Queensland Police Legacy was established on 17 June 1971 by a group of Queensland Police Officers who wanted to ensure that the dependent families of their fellow officers were never left without ongoing support. The organisation was formally incorporated in 1972 and has operated independently ever since.

In 2004, eligibility was expanded to include the families of Queensland Police Officers whose spouse or partner had also been lost. This was further extended in 2006 to include families where a parent is facing a terminal illness, ensuring Queensland Police Legacy can stand beside officers and their children during the most difficult moments.

Over more than 55 years, Queensland Police Legacy has remained committed to helping police families build strong, hopeful futures. Since our establishment, we have supported 291 Queensland Police families and funded the educational expenses of 517 legatee children, made possible through the generosity of police officers, donors and community partners.
